Product

Whether you are a knitter or a crocheter, you will love these blocking mats.  They are large, thick, and can be squared off.

If like me, you are a firm believer in blocking your work, you know the importance of using the right tools to block with.

It took me a year to source blocking mats that I felt were superior to all of the others on the market and finally, here they are.

How many mats do I need?

This really depends on what items you tend to crochet or knit.  If you make smaller items such as 1 skein shawls, you probably only need 1-2 sets (2-4 mats in total).

For larger projects (2 skein shawls) I tend to use 2-3 sets (4-6 mats) depending on the shawl shape.

For adult garments with sleeves, you are more likely to need 3+ sets (6+ mats).  For this reason, I now sell the mats as a set of 9, so that you can make a fully straight-sided blocking square (3 x 3 mats).

Key to blocking is using lots of pins.  I sell three different types of blocking pins.  You may also want to take a look at my wool wash which is made in England and has no plastic packaging around it.

    Comparing the Blocking mats

Straight edges - These mats are interlocking but also have straight border edges so that you don't have the same amount of redundant areas with the teeth at the edge. Each mat comes with two end pads which makes it easier to block straight edges and projects with right angles.

Size - These are larger than usual blocking mats.  Each mat is 52 x 52cm at their widest and if you add the straight border edges to opposite sides it increases the mat space to 52 x 56cm.  Two mats together can create an overall blocking dimension of 106 x 54cm.

If you but two sets of mats (four mats in total) then you can create a blocking mat square with four 106cm straight sides

The mats are also thicker (1.5cm) than the standard blocking mats available on the market (0.9cm) which means you are less likely to push your blocking pins all the way through the mat and scratch any surfaces underneath or snag your carpet.  This additional thickness also brings extra stability if you have to move your mats from one room to another as your projects are blocking.

    Blocking mat dimensions

Each mat is 52 x 52cm at widest points without end pads and 52 x 56cm with end pads and 1.5cm in depth.

    Postage and Packaging

You can read all about P&P here.

The P&P costs applied are very transparent.  No additional costs are added on, you simply pay for the cost of packaging and the cost of postage.  I don't offer free P&P because what that usually means is that the cost of P&P has been added to the cost of goods.  I think it is better to assume that my customers aren't daft and would rather have transparent P&P costs than the pretence of 'Free P&P' with potentially inflated prices on the items that they are buying.
